These stories about living in the inner cities of Manhattan are but a reflection of inner cities throughout the greater US of A. They serve as a slice of reality not found in the tomes churned out by those baby-boi, wet-behind-the ears, pimped rappers abused by the recording industry.

Paula Deen and Why So Many Southern Racists Don't Believe They're Actually Racists
Racism: the Collective American Neurosis that no one wants to hear about, especially from the people who suffer as a result of it the most.
In fact the title should be: 'Paula Deen and Why So Many AMERICAN Racists Don't Believe They're Actually Racists'
I have my moments of racism; even as it pertains to my own culture, LoL. It is ingrained in Americans from the cradle to the grave by the most beloved and sacred of our institutions. The educational system and religion being the top two.
The only way to heal a neurosis is through employing some of the protocols used in psychiatric therapy, such as: dialogue and opposite role identification. The most important aspects of dealing with this monkey-on-the-collective-back is 1) there needs to be an acceptance of the existence of the problem ; 2) letting go of Fear and opening our Hearts; and 3) a willingness to heal.

I'm from the North and moved to the South for a short time. I was surprised how many people absolutely believe the Civil War was *not* about slavery. One person tried to tell me slavery wasn't that prevalent and another that black people were better off as slaves because they had free room and board. She seriously insisted that slavery ended because it was too expensive for the landowner.
Of course, I had also had some use the n-word and immediately say he -at twenty- he didn't know any better because he's from a small town."
My response:
Unfortunately, Ingrid Today, the Civil War wasn't about slavery as it's primary interest. The impetus for the North's disagreement with Chattel Slavery was motivated more by dollars-n-cents than by any moral inclinations. The primary issue was that the financiers of the Northern 'Union' states recognized that slavery was giving the Southern Republic states a greater economic advantage. Too many Southerner's families, in relation to their silver-spoon-mouthed counterparts up North, were stinking rich as a result of the Chattel Trade. Wealth = Economic Flexibility = Political Power. The kind of power that would have bought them the Presidency, as well as, the ears and socioeconomic clout of corruptible reps in the Senate and Congress. The kind that would situate them in a position to rule the economy and shut down the Federal Reserve Bank and the fate of gold & silver would be in the South's control. That's what made them scream so loud about slavery: they were terrified of the clout it gave the South. If slavery had continued, for as little as 20 more years, we would be calling this country the Confederate States of America. This was more worrisome to folks up North than the freedom - or not - of some Black servants and workers. The North was just as racist as the South anyway. History bears that out. That is why so many 'freedmen' went either far North into Canada or South into Mexico; or the Caribbean.

REMEMBERING ROSA MAE
It took an entire day for me to step back far enough emotionally to write this...even chillin' with my peeps at the Fourth Fete, my feelings waxed and waned, as I felt her presence and then she'd be gone just as quickly as she was upon me. SO, after an awesome day cooling out with The Peeps, I came home and began.
Ten years ago, on July 4th 2003, my Rosa Mae Williams made her transition. My Mother and I were born on the same day; she in 1931.
The fact that she made her way on 'Independence Day' is completely appropriate in her case. She was her own woman: fiercely and unabashedly so. Yet her kindness and compassion was just as uncompromising as her toughness.
You see, Rosa Mae was the every man's woman. She could be found rubbing elbows inside the Tudors and Colonials of Upper Montclair, or cooling her heels in a Newark 'hood; dancing with the young ones in Fire Hydrant Rain.
She had a slick charm that simmered behind that dazzling smile of hers; I witnessed its disarming prowess often and bathed in the admiration which washed over me.. She could soften the hardest Hearts and make the most arrogant fool back up and step into their proper place, which was no where near the height of her soaring Spirit, nor could they keep up with her sauntering into the dark alleys and project halls; for they would not match her courage.
I learned so much from you, Rosa Mae. On how TO and how NOT to expose the tricks of the Human Realm. On what it means to be a Chocolate Girl in this Vanilla World. On what it takes to be free in Mind and Spirit, even when the shackles are battering and bruising your body. On being the Sky Walker, the Trickster, the beeeyach, the Guru, the Untamed Woman and Mamma Dukes.
On the necessity of being me, 24-7-365 regardless of who, what or where.
Peace Moms,
it was groovy spending the day with your sneaky self.
Hollah at a Sista next time.

The Glass IS Half Full; So What You Got Now?
Study Examines Children And Racism
"AC 360° study: African-American children more optimistic on race than whites"
This study (click on title under picture for article site) completely shuts down the offensive knee-jerk accusations, by too many Caucasians, that people of color are the cause of their own stressful experiences in this oppressive and exclusionary society because they're always harping on race and have a negative way of perceiving how they are treated.
Every conversation I've ever engaged in, attempting to have an open and honest sharing of my experiences as a woman of color with Caucasian friends or acquaintances, eventually winds up as me being accused of being an angry Black woman with a chip on her shoulder. I am then presented with the aforementioned defensive stance. Yet, this study appears to be saying that people of color are optimistic about their place in this oppressive and exclusionary world, from childhood no less, and are actually NOT walking around with said chip.
Go figure! Yet, I can agree with this wholeheartedly and suggest that it makes perfect sense, this optimism. I will offer a reason why: it is what holds me together; what makes it possible for me to persevere in the face of assimilating the murder, by police, of the tenth child in Harlem within a month's time. Or the Transitioning of yet another friend because of lax medical care -- yet mostly from the stress of being born a Black man or woman in America. And all that entails from crappy housing to shoddy medical care and education to unfair lending practices to being charged way more for everything just because you live in the 'Hood. Oh - and not being able to get a cab back uptown from down the way. I don't know about you but after a night of dancing in the Village, I'm tired and would like to get home. Quick...and without hassle.
This optimism, in addition to a uniquely African American-style sense of extra-dry and in-your-face noir humor, is what enables us, as a community and wider culture, to full-throat laugh at ourselves and our stereotypical, neighborhood follies: the Latin King with his hair net tied tight around his head, pony-tail dangling down his neck, rolling a splif and serving sing-song Spanglish up on the Handball court. The Mexican kid shouting, "Yo hooooowmz, I got next!!", in the King's face; not giving a sh$t about the blade in my man's pocket. The 'Chicken-Head Hoe' and the 'Wine-o' both hustling on the corner in front of the Bodega. The Young-Blood Bro riding in a pimped out Jeep with stainless spin-wheels and Old Skool Hip-Hop blasting crazy-boom bass. The Latinas in the park with their toddlers round 144th, mixin' their milk shakes and spillin' them out of tight halter tanks to some soft-porn Reggaeton; the Pais' and Ese's on the basketball court lapping it up with their eyes. The Church-Lady in the 100th store-front church, fanning herself on the bench, hollering 'Aaaaaamennnn' and suddenly breaking into her 'Gettin the Spirit' dance. Or the Preacher, spitting Hell-Fire and Brimstone into the microphone...
After everything we've been through over the past 500 years as a culture; we are STILL HERE -- and still half-way sane. Not for nothin: the survival of my own experiences speaks to an unbridled optimism. Hell, a silver-spoon fed Upper Mountain Avenue boi would have offed himself a looong time ago. LOL!
So, now that we are clear on the fact that we Blacks, in fact, see the glass as half-full, what is it going to be now that this harping on race, negative perception is no longer a feasible defense for covert racism?

Return o/t Wisdom Bodies - Exploring the Auric Layers 02/16 by Nibiru60 | Blog Talk Radio
Postponing tonight's show - got a touch of Bronchitis. I fell asleep with the hat off and uncovered, lol - caught a chill. I'm pushing it to next Saturday's slot.
Tonight, I have a powerful guided meditation from the University of Metaphysical Sciences - 'Exploring the Auric Layers'.
Grab some good headphones and find a comfortable position laying on your bed, a mat on your floor or seated with your body in alignment.
I will go straight into the meditation after the intro music.

THE REAL DEAL: IN THE RAW
The energies affecting us from our Galactic Center is bringing much Love and Spiritual Growth on the one hand and an escalation of Fear on the other. As a result, the 'ism schizms' have stepped up a notch... among other things.
My head is swimming with all that has gone on and it's difficult to even keep up with it. I have several issues I'm outlining to compile and post on the CrashHood Blog. In addition to the shoddy medical care going on here in Harlem hospitals, there is a trend amongst realtors to show people of color apartments in the Bronx. You go in asking to look at stuff in Harlem and they insist that there is nothing in your 'price range' - that the Bronx would be more suitable. Pardon me but, who are you to tell me what my price range is? And what the hell does that even mean? As far as I'm concerned the racist Bullshyte is getting thicker; it's just on the Skeak-Tip (covert).
Here's what I'm going to tackle:
1) Dorner: the US media has always had a two-faced way of presenting 'crime'. When violence is enacted by people of color, they're horrible monsters that need to be put away and the key buried deep. Yet they can find sympathy, empathy and even excuses for the same scenario performed by one of my Caucasian Brothers. He's not just merely a 'criminal'; he's a complicated man, a human being gone awry. Not so for my Brothas though...
I have a couple of friends on the NYPD. I got on their case a few years ago during a debate. I wanted to know why officers of color are like pit-bulls with their own folks, in their own Hoods.; worse than the Caucasian cats most times. They told me that they have to show more force in order for their colleagues to believe they are committed. Otherwise, they would be left wide open and not covered in a heated situation in the street! They would be putting their lives at risk because their 'brothers' in blue would stop taking their back. WTF?!! I was totally floored by the idea of it: not protecting a fellow officer because they're not down with busting up young folks that look like them; who could be their cousin or nephew or whatever!!
Evidently, Dorner was a whistle blower who supported his community and wasn't down with the brutality displayed by the LAPD on a regular basis. Dorner was consistently dissed big-time because of it. The cherry-on-top was his dismissal from the force. His revenge rampage was misdirected. He acted out upon people who did him no harm; innocent lives taken and families left shaken. I am not advocating his behavior in any way. Just giving him a bit more depth as human being, not merely a criminal, and because his own family is devastated; left with this legacy. His employee review case is being reopened to see if he was, in fact, wrongfully terminated. They are doing this because they are afraid of unraveling the slow-in-the-making, hard-won work they've done over the past several years; busting their booties to regain the confidence of communities of color in LA, upon the heels of Rodney King. Otherwise, they wouldn't give a sh$t.
2) A female NYC EMT employee was beaten and chocked by an attorney who works in the Brooklyn DA's office. He was given community service. He is 'white' and she is a woman of color. Let a homeboy pull something like that; he'd be locked up for assault - and if girl-friend was 'white' it would be more like Felony assault with intent to kill. This is the deal here, and it's an implication that has been floating under the belly of this country from the gate: Caucasian lives are more important than those who are of color. It began with the Constitution, a document that detailed certain rights and privileges that were not intended for people of African descent and the First Nations to participate in.
3) A young Newark man who was assaulted on the street in front of folks from the neighborhood. In addition, the crime was recorded yet it went unreported until it became viral U-Tube. Politicians, Newark Mayor Corey Booker in particular, are blowing smoke; outraged that no one called 911. Evidently, the 3 young men who were involved are well known thugs in the community and folks were scared to snitch. Why are the residents being blamed? Why are these young men even on the street? Why haven't the police dealt with them if they're such well known repeat offenders?
What many people don't know about The Hood is that police will allow certain people to continue being a menace in their community in exchange for information regarding more high profile crime, like drug distributors and gun runners. To top it off, these individuals collect what I call a 'Snitch Check'. This compensation can be in cash, in-kind (like not being arrested when they steel someones pocket book) or they're drug of choice if they are users. Now, let's say you lived on a 'block' most of your Life and everybody knows you. You see a crime perpetrated by a cat and everyone knows popo got-their-back, would you report it?
Not so cut and dry is it, Mr.Booker?
And finally,
4) Art imitates Life in the form of 'Django Unchained'. Controversial? Of course it is. All of Mr. Tarantino's flicks are like that. He likes to stir things up. That's why I love his work. Samuel L. Jackson's portrayal of "The House Negro" seems to have touched more than a few nerves. The thing is, it was dead on. What folks are missing is that this character speaks to the twisted, codependent relationships that develop between slaves and slave masters. It's a very complicated and neurotic interaction that has several archetypes: the House Negro, the Field Negro, the Breeder, the Buck and the Mammie. I will go into this further when I compile the blog yet I will say that Dr.Joy DeGruy has studied the behaviors that have been passed down and ingrained in our society. I suggest that anyone who wants to take an honest and scholarly look at what slavery has done to both 'blacks' and 'whites' in this US of A, her work is a great start. Also, Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, Yosef Ben-Jochannan and Cornel West.

Harnessing the Galactic ALignment: Return o/t Wisdom Bodies Part III
Part III of 'Harnessing the Galactic Alignment - Return of the Wisdom Bodies' will be a presentation on the process that I call invoking the "Alchemical Holy Trinity". The Kundalini activates and opens the
pineal(1) & pituitary(2) glands and thalamus(3) which fires up prana in the channels(1) and brings the chakras into harmonic synchronization(2). Then the Human Energy Field (aura) ignites and transmutes into the Merkaba(3).
It'll end with an overview of the exercise that facilitates this Divine Spiritual and Bio-psychogical Alchemy: the StarFire Ritual (meditation). You wil be guided through the SFR in 2 parts, beginning next Saturday.
Peace & Blessings,
~The Goddess Nibiru
